Caribbean News Now!: New tourism projects planned for Trinidad and Tobago

Caribbean News Now!: New tourism projects planned for Trinidad and Tobago: "The government will be launching a number of projects in an attempt to develop domestic tourism in Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister of Tourism, Dr Rupert Griffith made the announcement on Thursday at a post Cabinet media briefing.

“In attempt to diversify the economy, Cabinet has agreed to undertake six projects to develop local tourism as the tourism industry plays a major part in the local economy,” Griffith said.

One major project will be the development of a tourist resort in Debe, south Trinidad.

“We are looking at developing the area where the doubles vendors are into a tourist resort. We will encourage more vendors to apply to ply their trade there,” Griffith said.

The minister also announced the development of an Amerindian village in Santa Rose, at the cost of $1.9 million.

“Twenty-five acres of land has been allocated to develop this village along the Blanchicheusse Road in Arima. This will be part of the 370 heritage projects which the government will undertake,” Griffith said.
