Caribbean News Now!: Bahamas megaresort needs 30 percent more airlift by 2014

Caribbean News Now!: Bahamas megaresort needs 30 percent more airlift by 2014: "The president of Baha Mar, the new multi-billion dollar megaresort in The Bahamas, says approximately 400,000 more "seats" will be required by the time the resort opens, to accommodate all tourism stakeholders in the country.

Don Robinson explained that major hotels in The Bahamas must work together to achieve a substantial spike in airlift.

"We need about 400,000 more seats in the market per year. That's a 30 percent increase roughly in airlift, which is why we need to start early," Robinson said.

According to the Caribbean Tourism Organization, The Bahamas received a total of 1.34 million tourists last year through airlift, representing a drop of more than 2 percent compared to 2010.

Tourism numbers seem to be experiencing a rebound so far this year."
