Tourism:Integrated Resort Development in Jamaica | UHY Dawgen Chartered Accountants Blog
In furtherance of the expansion and improvement of Jamaica’s tourism product, the Government
of Jamaica (GOJ) has decided to introduce the concept of an Integrated Resort Development
(IRD). An IRD for the purpose of this application is a development consisting of a mix of
various tourism amenities and facilities in the same precinct including, but not limited to, hotels,
hotel rooms, villas, casinos, attractions, sporting facilities, entertainment facilities, service
centres and shopping centres. Declaration of an Approved IRD by the Minister of Finance and
Planning (The Minister) is a precursor for an application for a casino gaming licence under
Section 9 of the Casino Gaming Act of May 10, 2010.
By this Request for Proposals the Minister on behalf of the GOJ invites interested investors to
submit applications for Development Orders.
See link below for a  summary of the key RFP specifications and other Relevant Documents:
Interested applicants are referred to The Casino Gaming (Application for Declaration of
Approved Integrated Resort Development) Regulations, 2012 which contains the form of
application along with the relevant documentation and provides instructions for application
submission. The review period for applications is estimated to not exceed four months after the deadline for the submission of RFPs. The estimated time line could however be affected by the timeliness of delivery of additional information that may be requested.
