As one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, Latin America and the Caribbean offers interesting trade and investment opportunities for European companies seeking to boost their international operations, private sector specialists from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) said Monday.
More than 140 business people from 117 Spanish firms attended the seminar on 'Opportunities with the Private Sector Group of the Inter-American Development Bank'.
The seminar was also attended by representatives of academic institutions and non-governmental organisations.
IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno said that Spain could draw strength from Latin America and the Caribbean, adding, "demand for Spain's products, for its talent and for its know-how will come from our region, and it will be stronger than many imagine".
Bank officials explained how the IDB works with private sector companies of all sizes, providing financing and technical assistance to help them take advantage of the many opportunities for investment that exist in the region that contribute to economic and social development.
They include infrastructure projects in such areas as energy, transportation, and water and sanitation, as well as business ventures in a variety of sectors, including tourism developments, fishing and aquaculture, agriculture and food processing, and many others.
