Bishop E Don Taylor dies in New York - News - JamaicaObserver.com: "Former headmaster of Kingston College and retired Anglican Bishop of New York, Fr E Don Taylor died in New York yesterday, following a long battle with heart disease.

Bishop Taylor, 77, a Kingston College Old Boy, returned to Jamaica in 2009 after serving the Anglican Church overseas for over 30 years, including 15 years in New York, where he had oversight for 81 churches; Atlanta for nine years, and the British Virgin Islands where he also served as bishop. This followed his resignation as principal of KC in 1975.

At the time of his death, Bishop Taylor was rector of the Church of St Thomas the Apostle, better known as the Kingston Parish Church. He had fallen ill in Jamaica late last year and had gone to New York for further treatment.

Bishop Taylor was also educated at the University of the West Indies, and Trinity College in Toronto, Canada, where he received his master's and doctoral degrees in divinity.

He has been honoured by numerous organisations over the years, among them the Anglican Church, and the Kingston College Old

Boys Association.

Regarded as one of former KC principal Bishop Gibson's 'special' students, Bishop Taylor often related tales of how he always wanted to be like Bishop Gibson, his mentor and first headmaster of KC, who also served as Anglican Bishop of Jamaica.

Bishop Taylor leaves behind one daughter - Tara-Elizabeth Angela."
