National Water Commission Granted Rate Increase

Posted on
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has approved a new tariff structure for the National Water Commission (NWC) which will see customers experiencing a 13 or 18 per cent increase on their water bills.
The OUR says last April the NWC applied for a 19 per cent increase in rates in addition to other adjustments.
The OUR says in making a determination of the new rates, it has begun the process of separating rates for potable water and sewerage services.
As a result, there will be overall increases of 13 per cent on accounts which reflect water and sewerage charges, and 18 per cent on accounts which do not pay for sewerage services.
It also says the K-Factor which appears on customers’ bills as a percentage charge has been reduced from 27 per cent to 14 per cent.
The K-factor is an OUR-determined mechanism for the NWC to fund approved capital projects to improve service to customers. more
