ACS to launch port and maritime strategy - News - JamaicaObserver.com: " The 25-member Association of Caribbean States (ACS) will meet in the twin island state on Thursday to discuss the port and maritime strategy of the Greater Caribbean.

A statement issued by the Trinidad-based ACS, said that the two-day meeting of the Special Committee on Transport will be chaired by Pedro Suárez Reyes, Director of Affairs for the Ministry of Transport of Cuba and will be addressed by ACS Secretary General Alfonso Múnera Cavadía, and the Director of Transport. Eduardo Gonzalez.
Officials from the Central American Commission for Maritime Transport will also attend the meeting where the highlight is the port and maritime strategy of the Greater Caribbean.
“This initiative is aimed at improving port infrastructure and competitiveness and ultimately assuring that the foreign trade needs of the Greater Caribbean are equipped to deal with the increase in traffic resulting from the expansion of the Panama Canal in 2014,” the ACS said."
