23.4b Tax grab - Gov't targets extra revenue - News - JamaicaObserver.com: "THE Government will grab an extra $23.4 billion in taxes as it struggles to pay down the country’s massive $1.7 trillion debt, Finance Minister Peter Phillips said yesterday.
Moves to plug the $274.5-billion hole in this year’s austerity budget will include broadening the general consumption tax (GCT) base and clawing back some of the recently announced savings on mobile phone calls, raising $4.2 billion and $5.25 billion respectively."
